Repair and Accounting Specialist
Star Realtors’ bustling REO business keeps Courtney Kamp busy. Even though she is juggling contractor estimates, tracking repairs on dozens of properties, and overseeing the company’s financials, her discipline and her affinity for numbers keeps things running like clockwork. Courtney brings strong bookkeeping and organizational skills to her role, but it’s her relentless approach to “putting everything in its place” that makes her so valuable.
Courtney will tell you that her family teases her about being a perfectionist, especially when it comes to holiday decorations. She’s guilty of rearranging the ornaments on the Christmas tree once or twice each season to achieve a flawless presentation.
“I have OCD bad,” Courtney laughs.
Courtney discovered her passion for accounting in her first job after high school. She worked as an assistant manager at a video store, handling employee payroll, tallying sales/transaction numbers for the evening and making trips to the bank.
“What I liked the most at the end of the day was balancing out to nothing. I would almost get giddy,” Courtney smiles. “I have always worked with numbers, have always tracked spending in detail. My husband (Scott) says that I must have an alert on my phone that goes off every time he swipes his debit card.”
Before jointing the Star Realtors team, Courtney worked at Gateway Regional Medical Center with the physician clinics in Granite City. She was responsible for all billing, customer inquiries and physician audits, working one on one with the hospital’s financial compliance officer and excelling in the demanding position for several years. Prior to that Courtney handled accounting and administrative assistant duties at the Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center in East St. Louis.
Raised in Georgia and Arkansas, Courtney is an SIU-Edwardsville graduate with a business administration degree and finance minor. She and Scott live in Alton with son Austin, age 11, a budding baseball player.
