You’d be hard pressed to find someone who was better prepared than Jeff Tretter to be Star’s investor specialist.
Not only does Jeff purchase, fix up and sell investment properties (he does the work himself), he spent 20 years as a foreman for Precoat Metals in Granite City where he became Six Sigma Green Belt certified – meaning that he gained status as a professional problem-solver. In addition, Jeff became proficient in Dr. Edward Deming’s 14-point quality management philosophy and in statistical process control.
With Jeff’s background and unique perspective, his keen understanding of his investors’ needs, and his mastery of Star Realtors’ REO inventory, Jeff can quickly and intuitively determine the properties that his investors will want to view. (That’s why they keep coming back to him.)
Another reason that Jeff is a leader on the Star team is his “whatever it takes” attitude. Recently, Jeff was working with a couple who was renting an apartment and looking to purchase a new home. These buyers had an approved contract on a house, but shortly before the closing, the home appraisal “flagged” the property’s shed – which had a wall that was in bad shape. The rotten section of the shed was going to prevent the FHA lender from dispersing funds to Jeff’s buyers.
Knowing that the couple had to be out of their apartment on the day of the scheduled closing, and understanding that a delay would create a hardship on his clients, who would need to find a temporary place to live, Jeff went to work. He made certain that the contract closing happened on schedule. How? He purchased siding to repair the shed wall and completed the job himself. But that’s Jeff.
Jeff is a baseball fan and a horseracing enthusiast, a passion he shared with his father. Actually, horseracing expert is probably the more appropriate term. Jeff’s knowledge made him a skilled bettor. He was so good in fact, that he received corporate sponsorship to travel to the notable tracks across the country, even winning a national tournament.
A lifelong Granite City resident, Jeff has an adult daughter, son Andy another member of the Star team, and granddaughter Sloan – the four-year-old apple of Jeff’s eye.
