MARYVILLE

Maryville is a small town located approximately 17 miles east of St. Louis, and is home to about 7,500 residents. It is best known for its rural community charm, featured in events like the Maryville Fire Department Homecoming, the Backyard BBQ Bash and places such as Bobby’s Frozen Custard.

The Grillin’ Fools Backyard BBQ Bash is an annual grilling competition that draws both amateur and professional contestants from the St. Louis area. It is sanctioned by the St. Louis Barbecue Society, with prizes offered to the top 4 placements in each category. The event features live music and is free to the public. Entry fees are collected from contestants, with all proceeds going to the Maryville Fire Department.

Bobby’s Frozen Custard is a taste of yesteryear, with a nostalgic 50’s-era design and several delicious varieties of frozen custard created on-site. Live concerts are featured in the summer months.

Maryville has two public parks with outdoor amenities; Fireman’s Park and Drost Park. The Maryville Heritage Museum is in development, and actively seeking local historical artifacts and volunteers. Community resources and activities can also be found at the Maryville Community Library.

Medical services are provided by Anderson Hospital, a modern 151-bed facility with state-of-the-art surgical and rehabilitation centers. Anderson Hospital is famous for its obstetrics department, including private birthing suites in the Pavilion for Women. Anderson Hospital is a partner with Cardinal Glennon Children’s hospital, with pediatric doctors on location.
